IT ALL STARTS HERE
For many parents, this is their child’s first year participating in organized baseball. It is our intention to make this experience instructional, but most importantly, FUN for the players and the entire family. Listed below are some basics that all parents should know about the SEYSBA Tee Ball League.
The Basics:
- Each team has a sponsor. Team sponsorship comes from various merchants and organizations within our community.
- This is an instructional league. No score or standings will be kept.
- Managers and coaches are expected and directed to provide instruction to all players during both the practices and the games.
- We emphasize both team play and individual skill development.
- All teams are co-ed. Each team will have both boys and girls on the roster. The number of boys and girls registered will determine the actual mix. We try to balance the teams accordingly.
- We use a softer padded, hardball, (RIF 5), which the SEYSBA supplies to all Tee Ball teams. The same ball can be purchased at most sporting goods stores if you want to practice at home.
- A standard batting “tee” is used. Each player will have multiple opportunities to hit off the tee under the control and supervision of a coach. There is no pitching at this level.
- Though no score is kept, outs per inning are recorded. We believe this provides an incentive for the defense to make plays in the field.
- Each player will receive a baseball cap and team jersey. The name of the team’s sponsor is printed on the back of the team jersey.
The Season:
- The practice season (for Tee Ball) begins around the second/third week of May.
- All teams will march in the South Euclid Memorial Day Parade. Players should wear their team uniform for this event.
- The regular season begins the week following Memorial Day and runs through mid-July.
- Although this is not a competitive league (no score or standings are kept) coaches and parents can decide if rainout games are to be rescheduled. If there are make-up games, these can at times, extend the season a few days beyond the middle of July…all depends on the summer weather.
- All games are played during the week (Mon-Fri), beginning at 6:30 p.m. Players should arrive on the field by 6:15 p.m.
- Most games last about 1 hour and are usually over by 8:00 p.m. · Teams will have one or two games per week.
- Games are played at the Adrian Fields. These fields are located behind Adrian School, 1070 Homestead Road in South Euclid, Ohio.
What to Bring:
The SEYSBA will supply almost all the equipment needed to field a team. Players are required to bring their own:
- Baseball glove (remember to write the players name in/on the glove before the first practice)
- White baseball pants are preferred. However, if this is not possible, long pants can be substituted.
- Athletic shoes, plastic molded cleats or soccer shoes are OK (Any type of METAL cleats are prohibited). If the player has her/his own bat, please have your team’s manager examine it prior to use. The SEYSBA regulates the use of any and all bats.
That’s it. See you on the field!
