Dirt Dawgs Fall Ball Tryout Info; 14U this SAT - see notes

We are moving forward with our Dirt Dawgs Fall seasons.  Note that the severe amount of rainfall this week has made a disaster of what is normally playoff week for our hardball leagues.  We are obligated to be flexible and keep fields for these games which include a large number of our potential players.

So we are forging ahead with a few caveats based on this rainfall.

Tryout Times:
Boys tryouts for 13-14 will remain this SAT at 930am at Quarry North.  Warmups and sign up at 900am.   BE PROMPT.  If weather makes the field unplayable I will make announcement if we move to a nearby space. I will post on FACEBOOK.  If the field is too soggy I plan to use the massive grass field adjacent to Quarry South provided there is no lightening or heavy rainfall.

I will be the head coach for this team and have a volunteer for an assistant, however it is nice to have more help. Tryouts for boys ages 11-12 is temporarily postponed due to the significant amount of rainfall which has caused havoc on the Majors season.  Daryl Mapson will be coaching this team and has an assistant.  Daryl will know more about a tryout time but know MANY of the potential players are playing the end of this week and possibly the weekend.  We will make a clear announcement as soon as we can be assured of a time.Reach out to the appropriate coach if you can't make the tryout.

Coaching Needs:
We could have teams for boys 8/9 and/or boys 8/9/10.  BUT... we've had only one parent volunteer to coach and he wanted some help with a lot of baseball experience.  At this point, we will not have teams for boys 10 & below unless more parents step up to volunteer.  We will not send players without proper coaching to play in a tough league. To be have a healthy program, there should be 2-4 parents driving an age level forward, including two parents with the ability to coach up a baseball team.  If those volunteers actualize immediately, I will refer to these potential coaches and discuss tryout times with them.

The success of each age group is directly related to parents being involved.  Nobody needs to be obligated to coach the next 3-7 years which is why there should be a group helping drive the program.Teams that run without parental involvement charge entry fees in the thousand dollar range.  The Dirt Dawg concept is to keep this affordable so we can find and develop the best local players regardless of financial situation.  We have no problem helping people become better coaches but it needs to happen ASAP.
